This is an incredibly moving story about a closeted gay teen, responding to an essay assigned by his teacher about an online essay called "I'm Christian, Unless You're Gay." And it goes to show that one person can make a real difference.

If you haven't read the original essay, do that first... and then read the response.

  2. Thanks for sharrring. Nice stories, although my eyes kinda hurt from staring into an iPod.

What a brave kid. I hope it works out well for both him and his mother.

This is brilliant. I love how his mother has now changed her views so dramatically, if only every one could be made to think this way!

Sadly can't read the rest of the original essay, stops working after page 1. Though I think I read it before...

Edit: Can't read the essay either. It says the website's offline.

That's incredible. I especially loved one particular line in the original essay: "[W]hat makes somebody love, accept, and befriend their fellow man is letting go of a need to be better than others.". It is just so true.

Read both those articles, and many others attatched to the core subject a couple of days ago. I've been trying to find words for them all, they're all so beautiful... I really had to keep myself from crying!

::::') I guess I can't say any more than that...

The articles give me hope, but also make me aware. I'm going to make a conscious effort to catch myself being "Christian Unless ..." in my own life - not just looking for it in others.
