Good to hear. Can't wait to see how the groups mentioned in the article try to spin this.

It is sad, they will say, how the lavender mafia buys out the people they can buy and intimidates the rest into retracting good, solid science.

Spitzer is a guy with integrity. He had, years ago, said that his study was heavily flawed and that even the findings he did report were widely misquoted. I guess he felt that admitting it was flawed and misquoted wasn't enough and that's what prompted the full retraction.

There were all sorts of problems in the study design with sampling bias and other factors, so nobody credible ever gave it much credence, but the Spitzer study was one of the remaining linchpins that the ex-gay folks were using to justify that their methods work. It will be interesting to see what they do now. My guess is... they'll probably ignore the retraction and continue to lie their asses off.

Representative by the fact that not everyone who was doing these studies were homophobic. They just did not have all the right ideas for how to approach studying something thats still in its infancy of understanding. It takes a strong person to admit they were wrong, and stand up and show as such.

Considering the anti-gay movement heavily cites his work as evidence that being gay is a choice, you're right. It takes a pretty big man to stand up and say wait a minute, I was wrong.

it wont phase the fourth reich one bit. they will continue to promote their misenformation regardless; since when have facts mattered to these people?

This is good news indeed, however it is simply not enough.
