Aw man, I knew there was a reason I loved Joe. Besides being amazing in The Onion, of course.

Maybe I just selectively pay attention to the news, but it sounds to me like Hilary Clinton and the State Department have done the lion's share of positive things for the queer community.

I don't have any confidence that even a 51 majority in the senate would do anything for gay marriage, since we have now found that 60 votes is the only way to get anything, and there are too many "blue dog" (read: asshole) democrats.

Heh, NOM now says Biden has declared war on the 30 states that have the constitutional amendments. I'm sorry but to me it really shows NOM is no different than the South when there was the Civil War. And the fight between black vs white lol. You go NOM, keep struggling. I can't wait for them to finally lose, I really can't.

The Education Secretary echoed Biden earlier today as well.

Go, Joe! I hope this means that President Obama isn't far behind.
NOM's every loss, humiliation, and embarrassment gives me so much pleasure . Those people can just go f**k themselves.

Marriage belongs to the jurisdiction of states. The only thing that the federal government can do is to regulate whether the federal agencies recognize pre-existing and solemnized same-sex marriages.

How are they going to be able to actually help same-sex couples to actually get married? Actually?

except for the fact that constitutionally, no right can be granted to one group, but denied another. So technically, while the state handles the paperwork of marriage, because those states are required to abide by the federal constitution, they are breaking constitutional law of equal and due process under the law.

Obama cant take a position openly for it until after his relection. Since democrats are nowhere near as reactionary as republicans are, they have to play their cards close to their chest, where as a republican can get up and say we should recriminalize homosexuality and interacial marriage, and the party would still support them, and they would still be electable.
