    It will be interesting to see how this plays out...and quite honestly I'm surprised the NAACP has taken this step considering the vast majority of the black community not only oppose same-sex marriage but completely oppose gays (at least that is what the black gays I know tell me)

    I've heard that about the black community as well, unfortunately. But this is a positive step, nevertheless.

    The NAACP has been queer-friendly for quite some time now.

    Indeed. It's just the other people in the straight black community who seem to have some sort of complex that gays aren't a minority group too. But yay NAACP!

    Yes, I remember reading a NAACP amicus curiae brief in support of same-sex marriage when Proposition 8 was going on. Maybe this will help close the gaps between the black and gay communities, but I doubt it. We can always hope though.

    Good lord..evidently none of you people have ever been to a black church...I mean a real AME black church

    Between Obama's position and this, I believe the situation for gay people of color is going to improve in very short order.
