Yes, let's just go to direct democracy. That makes everything fair.

wait till they do the actual vote.

getting signatures doesnt necessarily mean much. it all comes down to the actual vote.

I hope that the referendum fails epically.. show those bigots that their homophobia is outdated.

remeber, a few years back in washington, the same people put a referendum on the ballots to block domestic partnerships... and the voters voted to keep domestic partnerships. The marriage equality side had a victory that time, and learned alot from it. now they just need to push harder this time to fight against the libel, slander, lies, and screeching of mindless, immoral assfucks like the people who keep trying to block equality in washington.

I think that as a community we must be persistent in our fight for justice but remember to not be discouraged when the change is not happening as quickly as we might like. It is inevitable, and gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states. It's just a matter of time.

Here's hoping they won't use children in their ads without legal consent. Oh wait, they already did that in California...guess they will again >_>

oh, no you must not have studied this in depth. you want a democratic-republic, a full democracy and the poor, farmers, those with no money or voices are done for. the way our govt is created may not run properly because of greed and selfishness, but it was well thought out to protect everybody they could. i would never wish us to become a full democracy. scary.

no, actually any rights we have under the Constitution could also be taken away, except for continual vigilance. it is up to each person and each generation to protect the rights we have from being slowly eroded by politicians and others who don't want us to have them, and as for new rights or addendums to old ones, if you do get it, you may lose it too. so we should keep that in mind, that if we don't stand up to preserve the rights of others we can not expect them to help us when the time comes ours are being attacked.

actually i am on a mailing list, and they are still gathering more signatures this week at least in Washington state. it only puts the referendum on the ballot though, not overturn it i believe. so the People of the state would still have their voices heard if they choose to vote. in the end, do we want a politician to give us a right, or the majority of Americans, the People, to vote we have a right?

I read it in the prop8trialtracker.com transcripts and liveblogging. I dont remeber what day of the prop 8 trial it was on.

and I should apolagize, they said that gay marriage would be worse than 9/11. I misremebered what it was... but i think the sentiment is just as bad.

here is a link talking about it, though:
