I am kind of confused. Are the churches they are talking about connected with the state like the Anglican Church? The way i'm reading it seems to imply that the state will force churches to hold religious ceremonies for gay marriages, which seems wrong.

Yeah, I think their Lutheran church is connected with the state, but it is mostly in favour of gay marriage. Not so sure about other churches and mosques, though...

The law concerns the state-run Lutheran Church.

I am a little confused too. So, irrespective of whether they marry in a church or not, gay couples can now get married in Denmark and get the same legal status as straight couples, right?

If that's true, we now have 11 countries with gay marriage

Here in South Africa the law says that churches can not discriminate against same-sex couples who want to marry. If a pastor/reverend/whatever-else-there-is says he won't marry the couple his/her license to marry people is revoked.

But I have to say that I've never heard of this actually happening because who would want to get married by an institution that discriminates against the nature of the relationship?
