I wonder which is worse the fact his mother doesn't support him being able to marry, or outing him. Probably the latter but the former just sucks too

I think being outed may be worse. You necessarily need your parents' support (depends on your relationship), but this was a private detail that was nobody else's business. Even if the point of the email was to emphasize Looper's commitment despite a personal relationship that might make her rethink her position, it wasn't right to reveal such personal details to complete strangers.

Honestly, I really feel for the son, and it's wrong to out him. At the same time, wtf is wrong with a woman who is willing to sell out her OWN SON's happiness by voting against something that should be a civil right he's entitled to.

I just don't get these asshats.

How is it that the unwritten courtesy is that the lawmakers reveal their kid's sexuality? What happened to the kids having a say in it it?

Agreed, so the kids lose their right to be open/closeted as they see fit just because their parents can use it as political leverage? And what kind of mother would vote against their own childs right to marry...

I guess she cares more about her job and public image than her son. Quite sad, actually.
