Was the church simply available as a place one may vote, with other polling places available to choose from? Because if that's the case, I don't think it's in violation.

But when I voted, I was given a paper saying "this is where you will go to vote." Unless I misunderstood, I was only allowed to vote at that location (my name was on a list there, I believe), based on my home address. So if it was the case that certain voters had no choice but to go into the church to excersise their rights, then that would be a huge violation of the First Ammendment.

But I don't know a lot (or anything) about how polling places are chosen, and it may vary from state to state. So I can't say, but since the courts have ruled that this is legal, I suspect the former situation.

That is why I like oregon. We get mailed our ballots, vote, and drop them off at a ballot return where they are verified to match our signatures and handwriting.

A church is just a building. If no one is proselytizing I don't see a problem with it.

It's just a building,if we truly do not belive in god why are we "scared" of it?
If they do remove offensive messages,I do not see why it should not be used as a voting place...
