Mitt Romney: gay people should be able to serve in Boy Scouts

Good for him.

 

Did I miss a notification or something? Since when is Romney pro LGBT?

 

He said it in 1994. If he was asked today I wouldn't be surprised if he was against it, so as to not alienate himself from his voters.

 

You can be against ss marriage and still be supportive of gay issues in other areas. No one really knows his real opinion on most of this. Gay marriage is too controversial in the Republican party and the country as a whole to take a strong stand one way or another. Wouldn't be surprised if he was more sympathetic to minority issues than he lets on.

 

Well, its good that Romney support equality, not just for LGBT but for everybody.

I'm sure now he would walk that fine line to try snd keep all the voters happy.Thats what would count right now to him more than anything.We will see how he is if he does or doens't get elected.

 

Well, i like that he's at least willing to say that under some circumstances.

 

I both retract yet don't really want to retract my earlier statement, but I dunno since this isn't like the marriage issue thing, I suppose maybe it's real. Good on him if it is...not that it means much, it's still important to the kids and adults who work for or are a part of the Boy Scouts.

 

a little background. He was trying to unseat Ted Kennedy by saying that he, Mitt Romney, would be better for LGBT rights than Kennedy was.

This article is pointless in the sense that if you were to ask him his view on it today, Mitt Romney would be against gays being in, or serving any compacity within the boy scouts of america.

He already has gone against most of his positions he had in the 94 senate race as it is, and he is wooing all the anti-jesus, anti-consitution, anti-freedom, anti-america fundementalist christians, so dont hold your breath that he would give a flying fuck in hell about gay people now that they are anathma to the people he is trying to woo this time around.

 

Romney's so unstable with his policies. I'd be happy, but this means nothing.

He supports inclusion in institutions that don't matter and fails to support them inclusion in institutions that do. I am so very impressed I can hardly contain it.

 

The same could be said about the current President.

 

Yeah, every politician does this. Obama does it, too.

I am told that one cannot be an openly queer scout leader, no. I'm sure there are tons of queer scouts.

 

Depends on the troop. Some troops are welcoming and affirming of gay scouts... others are the exact opposaste.

But here, Romney was just trying to appear more progressive than Ted Kennedy in a senete bid.

Remeber, this is a person who implies he judges a place based on the 'trees being the right height'.

He will say anything, even the most nonsensical crap you can imagine, if he thinks it will get him votes.

He basically is in a class of his own, because no politician alive does his brand of inane banter.

 

Romney's center-right who feigned far right just enough to secure the nomination. Expect his tone change yet again now that he's the official nominee.
