Anderson Cooper eloquently, and openly, talks about being gay

    Just came across a wonderful article written by Andrew Sullivan about public figures who are gay, and how many of them intentionally avoid the topic. He emailed Anderson Cooper, whom he's counted as a friend for over 20 years, and Anderson responded with the following, which he gave permission to be published.

    It just continues to show how classy Anderson is.

    I can't tell you how much I respect Anderson Cooper based on this conclusion alone.

    I'm so glad he did it on his terms. It always bothered me when people who didn't know him personally in the media would speculate he was gay or ask if he was gay or some low rent news organizations running user polls on if Anderson Cooper is gay or not. That's so degrading and so unworthy.

    VERY good for Him! It's not really news, but it's nice that He is finally out and can be Himself. Just waiting for 1 Million Mom's to make some ignorant post about how He is no longer their favorite news anchor...

    I'm glad he came out. I have heard he is gay for a long time and to be honest when he reported about gay bullying I found it a little troubling that he did not come out. Reading the article made me understand why.

    I'm glad he finally came out as well. Although this was common knowledge for most, especially within the LGBT community, I think it might force a few anti-gay people who had no idea to re-think things. Anderson Cooper never made his being gay a big deal and does not conform to a lot of stereotypes that homophobes tend to have, so at worst, not much will change but at best, some negative sentiments may shift.

    I love Anderson Cooper. I thought he had already come out though.. But I guess not. I thought that this was a wonderfully written letter. I'm glad that he allowed it to be published.

    He basically came out on Kathy 2 weeks ago... and about a hundred times before that. That being said, it's great that he actually said the words at last.
