    On the one hand, changing the title like that seems a little manipulative; it gives the proposed amendment a negative feel, which could reduce support among voters who are on the fence about this. I'm not sure if this sort of emotional manipulation has a proper place in politics.

    On the other hand, most of what takes in politics isn't proper, and the new title shows voters that this amendment is absolutely not about "recognizing" marriage, but rather, it is about denying the opportunity for marriage to a specific group of people.
