It makes me indescribably happy that there's a place in hip hop for a song about a tragic gay romance. And that's what I love about it the most: it's a tragic romance, that just happens to involve a gay couple. Sure, it talks about the unique issues that gay couples face--how could it not?--but at its core, it's not an after-school special, or a "very special episode" type of deal. And I quite like how he sampled Sarah Silverman's "It gets better" video.

As much as I love rap and hip-hop and stuff, and I do, I just can't get behind this, but I commend him for it.

I really don't like rap, but I'm very happy this has happened, I will support this dude to the ends of the earth, a song like this in that genre? that takes guts and a fair amount of stupidity :3

Pretty much this. I can't say I'm actually a fan of the finished product, but the intent is awesome.

I have a wide taste in music, though as a general rule I'm not that huge of a fan of rap. I like some rap, but it depends on the song and the artist.

However, my feelings when it comes to this song are all positive. I think it was good and well done. It wasn't meant to be a happy or joyful song, it was a song about how hatred and bigotry destroys people and their happiness. It was a very strong message, and a brave message as well since it took a direct shot at religion. So, I have to give major kudos to Murs - very well done.

:eusa_clap It was brave of him to make that, and his message will be heard far and wide. It's time we put all of the homophobias and transphobias behind us.

I sincerely dislike rap and hip-hop but this is pretty great. Got me quiet. I hope this mesage spreads within that community.

The sentiment is good, but I could not listen to the whole thing. In fact, after about 30 seconds, I couldn't take anymore.

Maybe hip-hip should just stick to asses, drinking, drugs and bitches. A tiger can't change its stripes.

Just because you don't like the music doesn't mean that everyone who likes intelligent song-writing doesn't like hip hop. The success of underground hip hop is a clear indicator that there are plenty of people out there who like the music style of hip hop and want songs that are about more than money, drugs, and hoes.

It was a heartfelt song, regardless of my dislikeness of rap and hip-hop music stylings. It was definitely a sad ending, but it does not have to always be the case. In my opinion, gays have the same rights as women in serving their country at their own pleasure.
