Mika comes out as gay

I guess I was one of the people that just always assumed he was gay(I know he came out as bi) but didn't know until this interview that he was actually not out.

Congratulations to him.

 

OK - I read the article, but I've still never heard of him. (hangs head in shame) :tears:

 

I've not heard of Mika before, but it was funny going through those "celebrities who've come out as LGBT."

Other than Gillian Anderson I'm wondering how their sexual identities were ever a question. How someone ever thought anything beyond "well duh they're gay" shocks me lol.

My first Mika experience was this:

From that moment on I became a lover of this man and his music. It remains to be by absolute favorite Mike song for reasons untold. But seriously, he rocked that cane and outfit.

Like a lot of others have said, I always just assumed he was gay. I never stopped to think about whether or not he was out and open. I never bothered to go and research it. And maybe I shouldn't have assumed, even if my assumption didn't hurt anyone.

Still, I think it's wonderful that he was able to come to terms with his sexuality through the strength lended from his music. Being a passionate music lover myself and finding quite a good deal of strength in it, I can understand and respect that about him. I tihnk it's wonderful, and I'm wishing him all the happiness in the world. And, of course, I can't wait to hear this new album. :]

 

I had a feeling he was going to be gay instead of "bi" like he said. I am not surprised XDDD.

NOT. It's about damn time. After Billy Brown I KNEW he was a homo.

 

Wasn't he already out? I seem to remember looking him up after I fell for one of his songs used in Were The World Mine, and I thought I stumbled across something saying he was gay. Either way, score 1 fabulosity, score 0 closets!

 

I've always listened to his music and I just always assumed that he was gay.

 

I had a friend in high school who liked Mika's music, that's how I know of him.

I never really even thought of his sexual orientation, I do like his music videos though.

Glad to know there is more representation for us!

 

Actually not really a fan of his music. Still congrats for coming out publicly.

 

I'd be shocked if anyone is actually shocked by this... revelation.

Either way, I'm glad that Mika has finally come to terms with being gay. Major big kudos to him for standing up and admitting it; I think his journey to acceptance has been a rather difficult one. I doubt he'll lose many fans, primarily because I doubt many who are truly fans would be shocked by the announcement.

Gay instead of Bi?

I loooove his work, really do, and I find him splendid and daring as an artist.

I really don't like when people publicly claim they are bi before showing their real sexual orientation though... reinforced the whole "being bi is just a phase to being gay or straight" stereotype.

So I kind of hope he said he was gay for the simple minds that can't see shades of gray and that he's really bi. Just because he said so.
