Isn't there a quote that said something to the tune of "no better tool was invented to justify hate"? I think that quote is quite apt in this story. Some people truly think that as long as they hold a Bible and claim to be Christians, anything and everything they say and do is justified because they are favored by God or some other bullshit.

This is in Michigan, yes? Isn't "clear and present danger" a part of this? They threatened to rape and kill people! Isn't that beneath that umbrella? I'm so upset at this... My parents are asking me what's wrong... hah.

And the police can't do anything about it!?

This is absolutely dispicable. Threats are NOT covered under the First Amendment. Quoting scripture that justifies it MIGHT be covered. But those were direct threats. And the police refuse to help. I rarely say this with this much sincerity, but fuck the lot of them. Whoever told them the police can't help needs to be fired at the very least. Their refusal to look into the matter are putting people's lives at risk.

A response on that page around 12:30p says that the case is currently under review by the police and prosecutor's office. I can't confirm this, of course, but hopefully justice will be done.

I'm still thoroughly pissed off that the police originally said there was nothing they could do. I hope they're looking into that as well.

Although i agree with Hot Pink that what angered me more was the Police's response. So just because we're a protest group we're exempted from the right to feel safe and protected in public? What about what those bible thumpers said? I find it hard to believe what they said can't be constituted as a threat..

When I read the quotes from this story, they are almost identical to some of the things I've heard uttered in WWE, and in conversations during online gaming.

Would it be safe to assume that a large percentage of Americans males are uneducated, bible thumping, screaming homophobes, obsessed with the rape of women, and the brandishing of their tiny opinions in front of a camera and online?
