Is there gay marriage in Alaska? I live in Alaska and I'm wondering if there is gay marriage in Alaska.
Unfortunately not. A constitutional amendment defining marriage as being the "union between a man and a woman" was passed by voters in 1998.
Not only that, but workplace and housing discrimination is also legal in many places. Attempts to codify LGBT status into Anchorage's anti-discrimination law have failed twice.
New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Iowa and DC. Washington, Maryland and Maine are voting on whether to legalize it or not in November.
Thank you for telling me!! I hope same-sex marriage is legal in Washington, Maryland, and Maine. I am actually thinking about going to N.Y. I always wanted to go there.
On the bright side, I'm sure that by the time you're ready to marry anyone that list will be much longer. I doubt it'll include Alaska (unless the Federal government does something), but still.
I don't mean to sound rude, but you live in Alaska, so you of all people should know! Besides, you can use Google (and do a thorough research on the subject while you're at it). Who knows, it could get you into politics. Edit: Oh, you're 13. Never mind what I said.
