I think he's making a lot of baseless assumptions about the opponents to gay marriage. He follows the slippery slope fallacy to the letter. Plus, I don't think we need the help of people who work in the sex industry. If anything, this could hurt our cause. Our opponents already assume that our relationships are purely about sex and physical gratification and not love. Having people like this speak on our behalf is only going to reinforce that stereotype.

Hugh Hefner has always been an intelligent, philanthropic, and well spoken person. Unfortunately for whatever reason people have a bad knee-jerk reaction simply because of his lifestyle.

I actually agree with what he has to say. I am not really aware of the criticisms of him, nor do I care to research them. However, I think he's pretty much right when he says that conservatives want sex to be for producing children only and that they want to essentially criminalize everyone's sex life. Yes, it's time someone said that.

How would people who work in the sex industry making public statements hurt the LGBT community?

The only negative reactions it would incite are from the stuffy, conservative, boring, self important, finger wagging, pathetic, hate mongering, hypocritical, sexually frustrated pieces of crap (that booze it up and watch their hardcore XXX porn in privacy) that hate us anyway.

"The idea that the concept of marriage will be sullied by same-sex marriage is ridiculous. Heterosexuals haven't been doing that well at it on their own."

This is something that we have all heard before, and something these marriage defending jerk offs need to face.
