Former Irish President Criticises Catholic Church's Views on Homosexuality

    Her statements are particularly strong given that she herself is a Catholic, and she is currently studying Canon Law in Rome. She's a lawyer, and was Reid Professor of Criminal Law at Trinity College Dublin. She was also a founding member of the Campaign for Homosexual Law Reform in the 1970s.

    I'm from Ireland, and she was an amazing President. She refused to be the Grand Marshall for the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City last year because they wouldn't allow gay people to march in the parade.

    She was the president who signed the Civil Partnership Bill into law.
