    okay, in all seriousness, there is a huge disconnect between the catholic congregants, and the catholic vatican hierarchy.

    The Catholic Church is dying, their nations are becoming far less religious every day, with significant portions of Catholics in Europe and Latin America not even regularly attending church. Most Catholics don't care what the Pope says, since most Catholics aren't actually the most religious of Christians.

    Disagreeing with the Pope has a long and rich history within the Church. One of the most religious people I know is a devout Catholic who vehemently disagrees with Benedict XVI on all sorts of issues.
