I wonder what the Churchs response will be, seeing as their Ugandan brothers are supporting anti-gay legislation and haven't been corrected on that afaik.

I think it's a major sign that the church isn't funding the anti-gay marriage campaign in Maine this year. I think that says that many parishioners would be angry if the church used their tithes for such a campaign.

I find that fact very encouraging.

Now if only the Church itself would see the light, so to speak.

I think it would be membership-suicide for the Roman Catholic Church to endorse homosexuality. The Church is way too big and they would lose a lot more members if they were pro-homosexuality than against it. Not suggesting the Church does things only to maintain/increase membership, but I'd imagine its a significant factor.

Look at the Anglican/Episcopal church. After they came out pro-gay marriage in the USA and parts of Canada, the Church is dividing in two over the issue.

I think its more likely that the Roman Catholic Church will shut its mouth on homosexuality than accept it in our lifetimes. -- However, if anyone knows anything about Roman Catholic History, Pope John XXIII was elected and was believed to be the status-quo candidate and then summoned the Second Vatican Council that vastly changed the Roman Church. I guess it could happen again?

    Ha!

Like the church is going to do anything to support us in our lifetimes, they will shut up about it though.

If in the near future I am proven wrong, that would be awesome.

I hate to agree with you but I do. I think many Protestant Churches that are smaller will continue to accept homosexuality as they have been in large numbers over the last 5-7 years. But the Roman Catholic Church is just too big to make such a major shift that 'quickly'.
