A French court has apparently awarded a man almost €200,000 in damages after he claimed the medication he was taking for his Parkinson's turned him into a 'gay sex addict.'

I have heard of Mirapex turning people in gamblers, but Requip turning people into sex maniacs? I'm on Mirapex and never gambled. I'm also on Sinemet and Amantadine.
I've also been a Lab Rat at the NIH

Clearly this guy was already gay and was carrying these repressed urges with him all along. The drug just lowered his inhibitions and led him to act on them. No way did this drug 'turn' him gay.

But it's really disappointing that a court accepted this nonsense and the media will spin it as a drug that can turn people gay. That will just fuel the homophobes' assertion that sexual orientation can be changed and they can 'turn' gay people straight.

Requip, Mirapex are dopamine agonists, meaning they help the brain use dopamine more efficiently. I don't see how it lowers inhibitions, alcohol will do that better than meds for PD patients. Definitely a Stella award contender (That infamous McDonald coffee spill award that should have been thrown out of court)

1.) It's obvious that the drug did not change his sexuality. He is just using it as a scapegoat to justify his risky sexual behaviors and not taking responsibility for his own actions.

2.) The fact that they are rewarding this man such a large amount of money for having the drug "turn him gay" is offensive as it is somewhat implying that homosexuality is a defect.

Honestly, I'd be fascinated if a drug could change people's sexualities.

I understand. I have pain killers that make you a murderer. And my tap water made me transsexual. And when my dog licks me, I see hallucinations. What I'm trying to say here is you're crazy.

But, kidding aside, it's preposterous that they actually gave him money for being gay. Well, I now know what to do if I ever go broke.

    Honestly, this doesn't surprise me

Why should that have been thrown out? The coffee caused the woman to have third degree burns on six percent of her body, lose almost 20% of her body weight, lose thousands of dollars in income, and had to go through two years of medical treatment. All of that doesn't take into account her medical bills. The coffee was hot enough to cause third degree burns in less than ten seconds. You don't think that is enough suffering to win a lawsuit?

    Do I know him? No.
Am I judging him based upon his own actions? Yes.

She spilt the coffee on herself, therefore she was responsible, had a McDonald's employee spilt the coffee on her then she would have had a case, I think she even placed the cup between her legs as she drove off, not a very smart move on her part. So yes, Had I'd been the judge I would have most certainly thrown the case out. She should have placed the cup in a cup holder. And don't tell me she did not know coffee is served hot. If they served it luke warm, they would lose customers. She opened the pandora's box of BS lawsuits, of stupid people getting rich from doing very stupid things, just because the company may have "deep pockets".
Would you sue a knife manufacturing plant because you cut yourself with one of their knives? It's idiots like her that they now place instructions on how to use a knife.
What ever happened to Common Sense?

The cup was between her knees but she wasn't driving the vehicle at all. She was the passenger and they were stopped when she spilled the coffee. Just correcting details of the case

I'm not saying that she didn't know the coffee was hot. I'm also not saying that they should serve lukewarm coffee. I'm saying that they can serve hot coffee without it giving you third degree burns in mere seconds. The coffee did not need to be that hot. The temperature of the coffee was unacceptable and the court agreed
