    Wut?

Can someone please educate me on why it's a good idea to have a known homophobe attend sensitivity training, and somehow that's going to correct him enough to work with the Trevor Project? Are you kidding me?

I think that's what teams usually do with players who make such comments (see Yunel Escobar).

This is one of the problems I have with the Trevor Project. They exist as much to publicize the problem of LGBT suicide as they do to help individuals. Their training for counselors (all of whom are volunteers) varies in quality, too.

Maybe the guy will be educated? Yeah, he acted like a dick, but what happened to giving people a second chance?

I think sending boorish, insensitive people to diversity trainings can make a meaningful difference in their viewpoint and demeanor *if* the training is well executed, with lots of exercises that really reach deep into the psyche. I've seen a few such trainings, but I'm sure that there are plenty that are just a talking head at the front of the room, and those likely don't do much.
