It should be pointed out that Tom Strobhar is a NOM plant. He does this type of stuff at shareholder meetings all the time. More can be read about him here.

Fantastic..in spite of the fact their coffee is crap this makes me want to go and spend money at Starbucks... great to see a CEO stand up for what's right... now all they need to do is learn how to make good coffee.

Starbucks has always struck me as one of the least evil of the major corporations in this country. And this is only confirming that.

Yay yay yay! Even though they charge too much for their frappes, this definitely makes them in the top ten on my list of "Most Not-Evil Companies"!

I agree, but the frappes are worth the price... Especially the salted caramel one...

Starbucks really seems to live its values rather than just mouth them... something I've always appreciated.

And, on a practical note, Starbucks would have a really hard time if they were anti-gay, given that some enormous percentage of their male baristas are poofs

That apparently didn't hurt Chick-fil-A as much as it should have...

Interesting that Starbucks has many gay male baristas. Someone connected to my family by marriage (actually two marriages--he into a family that my father is married into) worked as a barista. I don't know his position, but I'd be betting in my mind that he wouldn't be gay friendly. (Fundamentalist.) I wonder if this is why I think I may have heard the rumor that he didn't like working at Starbucks.

I've only once been in a Starbucks (as far as I know they don't operate in my country), so I can't say anything about their coffee, but this brought a smile to my face  Nice.
