I am a registered Republican so I could vote for Ron Paul in the primaries...and I'm still an economic conservative.

But by god the Republican's do give much incentive to stick around. I'll keep voting 3rd party in National elections until they adapt a more liberal social policy.

Be that as it may, I have a feeling that in 2016 the Republican Party will not be able to put forward a candidate who opposes gay marriage. To stand any real chance, I think they might suddenly have to "evolve on the issue"

And just when I thought that there might be some hope for them. *sighs* Seriously, you'd think they would figure out that they can not win by just pandering to the Bible belt and "family value" Christians.

The Republican Party is one of the most bigoted anti-gay hate groups in America. A vote for a Republican is a vote against the humanity and dignity of each and every LGBTQ person.

Honestly, it's not really much of a surprise. It's pretty much the same stuff heard every day.

"We're against gay marriage" Okay, yeah. Sure. Say it a billion times. Doesn't get old at all.
    And this.

The Republican Party is going to split within the next 10 years, I promise. The libertarians will be the new republicans.

Have fun seeing your party split into people that actually want votes, and people doomed to fail on anything but a local level. :smilewave

not really. libertarians sound good on paper, until you hear them speak. When you start paying attention to what they actually say we should do, you start to realize that they are basically the same as a republican; they want a world where the private sector can fuck you in the ass, then ensure that there are no recourses that can be taken against them for their criminal liability.

They say that they are all about liberty, and yet they are deeply homophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-choice, anti-union, anti-worker, and basically anti-freedom.

the only difference between a republican and a libertarian is that republicans say they want small goverment, and libertarians want the vacumn of anarchisem that comes once they dismantle goverment.

why don't republicans go fuck up people who are trying to get divorce for the sake of sanctity of marriage?

or go on the Maury show/judge judy for the sake of marriage?

    /super high sarcasm

I hope not because a lot of them aren't exactly the most intellectually gifted individuals.

As a moderate, can't say I'm very happy about this. However, looking to 2016, this probably won't matter much compared to other things such as the economy and immigration.

Yeah, all those gay libertarians and gay anarchists I know are so homophobic. I mean, you wouldn't believe!

I should say first that I am not a libertarian or an anarchist, I'm a political fatalist. But really, Mike, with all the bashing you get on here towards 'idiot' Republicans, you turn right around and exhibit the same behavior?

No personal belief in certain political beliefs correlate to intelligence. Not in anything but a general sense. Period.

Because Republicans love adultery and divorce. Just ask Newt Gingrich or David Vitter or Mark Sanford or Rush Limbaugh.

Hell even the Republicans' beloved Saint Reagan was the first and so far only divorcee ever to be elected President of the United States. Nancy Reagan was his 2nd wife.

Well, I wouldn't consider it bashing. Some people on this board disagree with me politically and that's fine. That's politics. But I think it is very fair to state that a lot (not all) of Republican libertarians are quite crazy.

And I partly disagree with you on your last statement.

Yeah, I've heard that sentiment before. I.e., the opinions of most on here toward Republicans. Do not sink to their level, I beg of you.

Thanks, but I think you made your point clear enough the first two times you pretty much repeated yourself in this thread.

The Republicans went off the deep end back in the 70s with the Southern Strategy. Make a deal with the devil, you'll wake up with demons.
