Interesting map I saw showing the vote by House district compared to how the district voted on the marriage amendment last November.

Much of rural Republican Minnesota voted for the anti-equality amendment and their legislators also voted against equality now. However rural but traditionally Democratic Northeastern Minnesota mostly voted for the amendment too, however their Dem legislators still voted for equality. There was even one Republican in a pro-amendment district- part of Michele Bachmann's congressional district [!]- who crossed over to support equality.

Syncs up pretty well with how the state voted in Obama vs. Romney.

Amazing how much more equal the democrats are than the republicans. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Minnesota,

I don't always agree with you and your Viking ways, but congrats on closing in on being state #12.

Now, come on Illinois, make it lucky #13!

Haha, good one  I'm sure you won't agree with me being a Packer fan either, but at least we agree on equality.

Yea, I hope IL can get it done very soon too!

Come on Virginia, You can do it. I can imagine Virginia being like the twentieth or twenty-fifth state to pass it, being one of the more northern southern states  And I want to be able to marry by the time I can :frowning2: Go Marriage equality :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride: Go Marriage equality :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride: Go Marriage equalit...

I'm betting Missouri will be state 20-30, because we have a large LGBT population in Kansas City and Saint Louis, which means lots of people know somebody gay. Also, many people my age will be able to vote soon, and I'd say about 85% of them support LGBT people. Except for *trans people. What's up with that? Is it just to abstract for them? Sorry for ranting.

I have read that over 80% of Americans under 30 support LGBT rights. That's a very encouraging sign as we head into the future. And, I suppose it's because transpeople are not as visible/understood? We will improve upon this as well.

Will Illinois be lucky 13? Next week is going to be it for Illinois one way or the other. The bill's sponsor says he has the votes to pass the bill next week before the May 31st deadline. He will call for a vote in the house by the end of the week. It may be very close because I also heard we were still 1 vote short, with quite a few undecideds. From what I'm being told if it doesn't pass it's over until the fall, but trying to pass it then will be more difficult due to the pressure from the anti-gay groups and churches having a lot more time to protest.

Everyone in Illinois: Contact your Rep if you haven't done so already, and make sure that you are accurately represented. I already have twice, once through a website, and once through a constituent survey that was subsequently mailed to me. This is going to be a VERY close vote one way or the other, and I sincerely want to see my state do the right thing.

    Let's win this!

I gotta move out of Indiana. Don't see any marriage equality bills passing anytime soon. :frowning2: But hey, at least MN is going for it!
