Where are they going to get the money? NASA barely scraped together everything it needed over the years. Not gonna happen in the private sector without major mutlinational backing and investment: it cost something on the order of $24 billion today's dollars to run the Apollo program, and they only got that because we were in a dick-measuring contest with the Soviet Union. I don't see us going to Mars until China gets serious about it.

 

I doubt that this is even going to be possible, especially in 10 years. There are going to be so many different tools needed in order to actually get people there and I'm sure if people wanted to actually go there and had to stay there, they wouldn't like it.

I think I am okay with earth, and have no desire to be an early settler Once all of da shit on that planet is set up, then I suppose I might go. Hope the USA is going good at this.

 

I mean, the people who are going to Mars are signing up for a reality tv show. A few less unneeded people on Earth, I suppose.

Though, I do think it will be interesting to see how long they last.
