Please, just call me Norrie, this is a whole new agenda

One province of Australia now allows for someone to be classified as neither male nor female. Previously you could already have an X on your passport rather than M or F, but that didn't extend to, say, marriage or birth certificates (not all parts of Australia allow same-sex marriage). Now someone who identifies as non-binary can have that legally recognised, thanks to Norrie pushing the issue through courts (the article carefully avoids using any pronouns for them at all!). This may also apply to intersex babies, which could reduce infant genital surgery (so that someone can be easily classified as male or female) that doesn't always get it right.

    Good work, Australia!

 Thats great. I've always thought they should just not legally recognise gender at all, but its a start.

    That's a really nice change.

I'm really interested in all the changes that the world is going through regarding the recognition of gender (or lack-thereof) and sexual orientation, as well as seeing the immediate and long-term impact it has on the average citizens and their perception of it. Somewhat glad to be living in this day and age to be able to observe all of this panning out.

That's awesome! I wish the United States wasn't so far behind the rest of the world. It feels like we're hundreds of years behind the times as far as civil rights.
