    Wow that's some great progress!

I actually am part of the 13% that have shifted to acceptance in the last decade (though I've never personally been polled on the matter). Unsurprisingly, religious values are the largest reason for people to still reject it. While some of the older people may eventually change their views on it, I think the majority of the percentage shift will be due to changing demographics. Eventually we'll hit 80% approval, but at that point many of today's harshest opponents won't even be alive to oppose it anymore.

    Is this good or bad?
Bad=30% of the country hates me.
Good=60% of the country at least tolerates me.
    Hmmmm....

  6. Awesome.

I think the more we talk to people and the more we are open, the better these statistics will get. (I say that from the closet. :/ )

Maybe in the rest of the world, but where I live there are people with bumper stickers that say, "I DON'T BELIEVE THE LIBERAL MEDIA!"

Or, "OBAMA IS A THREAT TO OUR FREEDOM AND OUR CONSTITUTION."

    I doubt they like homosexuals.
I had the pleasure of being forced to watch a short clip in religion class about all the threats to Christianity the other day. One of the things that popped up in the slideshow was gay marriage. HOW DOES THAT THREATEN CHRISTIANITY? HOW!?

I've never thought about it before, I don't think I've ever heard of a homophobic atheist.

It's at least improving, even if 1/3 of the country is still idiots.

It forces people to realize that many of their pre-conceived notions, of what an ancient book has informed countless masses over the centuries....is wrong. Many (not all) religious folk often use selected portions of Christianity to suit their beliefs when convenient. Consider how normal divorce is...yet if I recall correctly, was something that many religions frowned upon fifty years ago.

And some people here make a big stink about any of us who claim that religious beliefs promote hatred.

Remember, there will always be bad hateful people out there.

But it takes religion to make people who want to be good, decent human beings to think of gay people as an abomination, in order to please God.

Millions of people think they are doing the morally good thing by denouncing homosexuality as a grave sin that will send all gays to Hell.
