Bit of a technical question for the staff...

If I post a reply on the forum and subsequently delete it, does it just disappear into the ether forever, or is it logged and stored in the dark, dusty EC archives away from prying eyes?

Just wondered because I deleted a reply yesterday and it asked me to provide a reason for deletion, which seems a little odd if it just gets wiped.

Can deleted messages be retrieved, if/when necessary?

I've had a look for the answer but I can't find it (unless I've missed it).

    Thanks

    Hi,

Deleted messages, as with all other content on EC, remain permanently archived, in part for security purposes. So it is (with a few exceptions) generally possible to retrieve a deleted message.

Thanks for that Chip, satisfied my curiosity. Didn't think they'd be wiped for good.
