I just noticed that if I use two browsers to access Empty Closets that I have to sign out of both of them to be completely signed off. For instance I use AOL if I get a report in my e-mail account and use FireFox for just reading and responding to posts. Does this happen to anybody else? I thought I should point this out in case this is happening to anybody else who is trying to remain confidential.
Hmm AOL *used* to use the Internet Explorer, just in a different skin. *Maybe* they switched to Firefox now? That would explain it. What is normal is that you stay online for some time if you don't press the logout button. So if you log out on FF but just do one more click on AOL you will be shown as online for another couple of minutes unless you press logout there, too.
I think the auto logoff time is one hour. This allows plenty of time for typing a long post or reading a long thread, with distractions, without finding the whole forum appears as read when you've finished.
AOL uses Internet Explorer's renderer and stores its "cookies" (small files which contain the EC session information) in Internet Explorer's folders. Firefox uses its own renderer (Gecko) and stores its cookies in its own folders, independently of AOL or Internet Explorer. So, if you've logged on to EC from both you need to log out from both. If you've used only one of them, then it's enough to log out from the one you've used.
