    Hi there,

My concern is that should someone know the E-Mail address of a person they suspect to be closeted/gay, all they need to do is simply enter that address in the forgot password field, click send, and if it returns "An E-Mail was sent to your account...." then they have confirmed that person is gay/has an account on EC....

I don't know, this might seem really trivial, I just thought it may be worth some discussion.

Indeed, this is a niche in the security system. Although, if this feature is removed, then how can one retrieve their account if the password is lost?

I guess one way to get around that is to create an email address specifically for forums like this that you don't want people potentially finding out about and using that.. For all dating sites and forums such as this.. I use an email address that I don't give out to anyone.. So if you are really worried or someone was really worried about that happening.. I guess you could do that and use an email address that no one would know is you.

I agree with Blossom85. I wouldn't mind someone finding me here (I even use a picture of myself  ), it's up to the user to ensure his/her security.

If it's possible to edit the dialogue they could simply change it to:

"If an account with that e-mail exists in our systems, an e-mail has been sent."

    Both if it's a legitimate e-mail and a non-existing one.

    Hey,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It's currently being reviewed by the staff team so that it can be 'fixed'.

    Martin.

What about saying "An email has been sent" no matter whether the email exists in the database or not?
