They just seem to act randomly. I see the chart at the bottom of the page, but it doesn't match up.

Sometimes I would refresh a page, looking at a topic with no new posts, then it will change to say there is new posts, but nothing changed. And sometimes new posts will be added, but the symbol says no new posts.

Is this the case for anyone else?

I've had it say no new posts when there have been new posts, but can't say I've noticed the other way around.

I actually look at the title instead of the symbols, but, yes, I get that as well. I think it's a little glitch with the site.

It happens whenever you log out. Apparently the forum software counts everything that happened while you were logged in as read, even if you didn't read a specific thread. That's why you'll see all posts before a certain time marked as no new posts. It's a little frustrating since you'll have to manually go back and find where you last read, and hopefully one of the admins can make a fix.
