You can use the wall messaging system once you have ten posts, which you have now. Also, your profile picture is visible. However, that is separate from your forum avatar (which might be what you're wondering about). To change your forum avatar, go to the "My Settings" page, and you'll find "Edit Avatar" under "Settings and Options". Hope this helps!
