Hiya I got a notification on a failed login attempt (the 5 times, then shut out) and this is the IP that was noted: 117.169.1.185 The Whois lookup shows it is China based. I have changed my password but should I do anything else? Thanks!
Unless you choose a low-entropy passphrase, it's unlikely anybody is going to get in via an online brute force attack. The most they can do is a denial of service via the lockout.
Thanks for the reply I was surprised someone tried in the first place and I guess it means I pick relatively good/high-entropy passphrases that they failed after 5 attempts.
The IP address provided by you is a disposable one. The original signal came from the US. I do not currently have the time or feel the need, to go into further details. I believe you were not selected as a specific target, but were most likely randomly targeted by your actions elsewhere. Think if you have registered using the same credentials elsewhere in the past few weeks up to a month and consider changing them.
