    Hey peeps,

Those in chat just a minute ago will be aware that it went a bit haywire. It was meant to be a simple testing of the boot room button and locking feature, but as you probably saw it turned a bit chaotic as the features never worked according to plan. As a result Chat will have to be closed tomorrow for about 30 minutes so that I can see whether something went wrong or whether the problem is a feature bug. This will only be very short as it's not a full maintenance check.

Chat is now open and anybody who was booted now has access restored.

Everyone, if there are problems with chat due to testing, please just accept the temporary inconvenience and don't have a go at the person doing the testing.

The chatroom is not as reliable as we would like, we do have problems with features (especially moderator features) breaking so we do need to test it from time to time. Some testing is done with it open. This normally doesn't cause problems but occasionally something could go wrong. Other testing and maintenance (such as repairing database tables) involves closing it for a couple of hours. Sometimes if we find a serious issue we may have to close it at short or zero notice while we try to fix it.

So instead of moaning and bitching whenever there are problems, or when we are testing or working on it, please be grateful that we ARE trying to keep it working properly and not leaving it in a broken state for ages. It is not the fault of any staff that things go wrong with chat sometimes. Please just accept the occasional inconvenience.

The alternative is that we just get rid of the chatroom (which would be a lot easier for the staff), but I'm sure you don't want that. What's worse, a few minutes or a couple of hours of no chat occasionally, or no chatroom at all?
