EC's 2009 April Fools Overview

    Dear members,

    You may have noticed that in the last 24 hours EC has been playing numerous pranks on you. I don't know about you, but I've had fun with it all. :grin:

    As some of you may have missed out on the action, here is a brief overview of all that happened:

    1) God
    EC had a visitor from the depths of hell. It turns out God is a lesbian who hangs out in hell with the westboro baptist church. You can find her posts by accessing my recent posts. She changed the post ID to mine for security reasons. :slight_smile: You will even be happy to know that she plans to make homosexuality the norm and that hell is being turned into a 24/7 disco party for LGBT peeps!

    2) The Ceiling
    At 12am UK time God arrived and introduced the removal of the EC wall and the introduction of The Ceiling!

    3) EC Security Logo
    God arrived with a new logo for the site! She has heard in your prayers that you all want relaxed security due to the restrictions, but she was unable to give you that so felt a more suitable warning would benefit you all. As a result, we welcome you to EC's new logo:

    4) Forum View
    Threads in the forum found themselves distorted by weird fonts, colours and settings! Some posts appeared with a red background, others found the writing all in yellow and impossible to read. Other posts w e r e v e r y s p a c e d o u t and others were either crossed out or in a massive fontsize. With all this going on, how could members not get pissed off? :grin:

    5) Ban A Member
    The most controversial prank we introduced was the ability to ban a member. Members would sign on to the forum and would be greeted with this lovely message:

    If members gave in to the temptation they were able to choose their target by typing in the username on this page:

    However, what happened when they clicked Ban User? Simple, it banned them. Did people honestly reckon that we would let you ban anybody you wish? :wink: Members who were evil enough to attempt to ban a member from the forum found that they received a 30 minute ban themselves. Nothing like karma, eh? :wink:

    So just how many people fell for this? On the contrary, this many...
    81 members!
    The question is, were they trying to ban you? :wink:

    I know the banning thing was an April Fool's joke, but I really really really wanted to know what happened when you did that...



    so I did, and I got banned!


    I guess curiosity banned the cat

    I'm amazed that even God tried to ban a member. You'd think she would have other means in which to enforce her will. I wonder who she tried to ban?

    Good job Martin :thumbsup: lots of fun. It must be a let down to not be God anymore. But you do need to post God's avatar somewhere - I liked it.

    The person who does the hacks is from the UK, so that timezone was stuck to. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Plus if you (re-)read the first post you would see that you'd just ban yourself. :wink:

    I'd like to make it clear that Helen and myself, at least, were in on the plan, and used the feature to make ourselves get off EC and get some homework done. In my case, it kind of worked.

    For the record, I kinda figured the banning thing wasn't legit. I just wanted to see what would actually happen. :wink: Anyway, good job Paul, Martin, and everyone else affiliated with this bit of trickery.

    haha i knew that ban thing would ban me im smarter than the average bear :grin: but i was confused by the font thing i thought my comp at broke but it was funny apart from yellow font just cant see lol

    i liked it though thanks god :grin: and can i bring a +1 to the party in hell?

    I wanted the EmptyClosets account to also send a PM to the target members account saying "X tried to ban you". Paul thought it was too mean though. :frowning2: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
