Default signature?

are there rules regarding signatures?

mainly, can they be animated?
any size limit?

the rules aren't clear on sig/avitar size etc. etc.

like, I have this avatar, I'll attatch it. but I am concerned for 2 reasons.
1)it might not be allowed
2)idk if it's suitible, because it is a little flashy, and that may make epiletic people react.

just going through this before I upload it X3

When people use offensively bright/flashing/blinking/ugly avatars or sig images, I use AdBlock Plus to vanish them into thin air.

Only fell foul of it once when I missed and blocked the nav menu by accident.

but, what I'm worried, is if it could cause epilectic fits. once they tery to block it, it's already too late :/

I don't really know much aobut te epilepsy issue. Perhaps KaraBulut would be able to comment on whether or not the picture would be a problem for them.

As for your signature, there is a very small size limit on signatures. Iirc, it's only about 5 lines maximum, and your current picture will take up most, if not all, of that already. I can't imagine another picture fitting in with it, so one would have to go.

KaraBulut is EC's one and only medic. As he's a qualified medic he'll know more about epilepsy than the average EC'er.

I don't see why gifs can't be put in signatures. They can be used in avatars so I don't see much difference between them and signatures. I'm not entirely sure how much of a concern the epilepsy issue is, but I have no idea how that could even be patrolled or monitored. That problem couldn't really be addressed without removing all images, and that would be a tad dramatic.

The line rule says that there can only be max 4 lines of text (I think). a picture would not be guided by this rule, although you could only put 1 pic in the sig the way it is designed (again I think)

I would almost want to slow the animation down b4 doing anything though

I know, if you just.....
I can't explain it X(
I'll put a youtube link
+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

you see, I HAVE slowed it down a lot already
so, I just need to do so some more, and create strategic pauses :/

I had an friend with Photosensitive Epilepsy who wore sunglasses (or special glasses I can't remember) when on the computer.
It is extremely rare though and I'm not sure if that is flashing fast enough to trigger a seizure or not. I think it was the constant flash of the screen that was the problem for him.

Honestly the main problem I can see with that signature is that it might be quite annoying or distracting. It's not against the rules or anything though.

Default Re: signature?

well, here's my new avatar
thoughts?

I have severely slowed it down. the framerate my gif maker has is 1s-100s, the last was 11, this one is 21, so almost half
and I have tried stratigically putting pauses between light and dark too, but it's fairly hard.

so, I followed what that person said, and just posting it here so he can see it

I already know my sig will go down just fine

Signature image size limits are 500 by 100 pixels and 65k filesize. Animated signatures are allowed but they will probably annoy people who will just click away and not read your posts.

Upload it on here and i'll try and add it for you. It's done this before to members but always seems to work when it's done by a staff peep.

ok, I'll upload them

I attatched 2.
I'd prefer the first, but if it's too memory-costly, I made a second, with a smaller size but bad animation
