who thinks it would be pretty cool to have music on our hompages?
i think it would be awesome. leave a little bit of an imprint of our personality on a person through some tunes lol.
btw, who is the tech specialist here?
i think i am reasonably able with computers. if any of the admins ever need help i am there.

Personally i wouldnt use this feature, as i really dislike webpages that put autimatically playing music on. Its especially annoying if I'm listening to music and it screws up the listening of the music I'm listening to. Then i have to find the page thats playing the music and find the button to stop the music. I can understand why some people would want it, especially aspiring musicians, to showcase their songs, but i think most people can show people their personality through the theme that they choose/develop, or the pictures at the top of the page/avatar/picture to the right of the "About Me" Page, as well as throught the blogs, and galleries.

So to sum up, i wouldnt use it and would find it annoying if people did use it, but thats just my opinion, and so if Paul/other mods decide to incorporate it, thats all good.

And as for the tech specialist person, I think Dave is pretty cluey with computers as well as Fred, but the more the merrier i guess.

No! No no no no no! I HATE myspace and any other sites that have auto-playing music on pages you end up at. It's probably the most annoying webpage "feature" ever.

The problem with music (apart from it being very annoying) is that adding it would almost inevitably violate copyright laws. People would have to be limited to their own compositions and performances or to using copyright-free music (which would either be over 50 years old or specifically produced for royalty-free distribution). I'm sure this is not what most people would want when adding music, and it would be more work to keep track of it and remove unsuitable stuff.

You could include YouTube or whatever links to videos of your favourite tracks in your blog, perhaps as part of a regularly updated "top 5 favourite tracks" thing. Because they are hosted elsewhere, it is not ECs problem if they violate copyright.

There is or was an "arcade" add-on for vBulletin, but this had to be removed from ### due to copyright issues (it seems that the original copyright owners of the games did not authorise the recreations in the arcade add-on, nor were they getting royalties as it was distributed for free). If a new arcade add-on becomes available that uses specially created games (not clones of other games) we can consider adding it, but there is no sign of this yet.

The ### one had some of the older arcade games (things like space invaders, asteroids and pacman) that you could play, and your scores and position showed under your name etc.

As I mentioned though ### had to remove it for legal reasons, so we can't get it here. :frowning2:
