I my self think this would be a good idea to keep phishing at a minimum and that is after say 35-45 minutes to automatically log any persons off that show no activity any where in the system i my self find that i am still logged in the next day etc only because I forgot to log out

I'm the opposite; I'm the only one who uses my computer so I get annoyed when i have to re-login later in the day when i've been there in the morning or something. I suspect more people would be annoyed by being logged out after 45 mins of inactivity than people would appreciate the privacy.

You can easily log out at the end of each session by hitting the "log out" link at the far right of the menu bar at the top of the page. Maybe that's a good middle ground?

I never log out. I don't even remember my password. lol Haven't used it in months. So for me this would suck.

I was on another forum that would log you out after 30 minutes of inactivety. The problem with that was if you were writing a long post and it took more than 30 minutes, you would be logged off before you can ever post it because the system did not recognize typing a message as being active. It was a pain, often if you wanted to post a long message you had type it up on a word program first and the copy and paste it to the message screen and thats not exactly a user friendly way to operate a forum.

EC doesn't really hold any identity details really and doesn't deal at all with transactions, so I think it's entirely unnecessary. If money and offline identities were being used, I'd be all for it, but for a forum, not worth it and would be more irritating than helpful.

Can't you just solve this problem by not selecting "Remember me" when logging in?

I was under the assumption that the site only keeps you logged in for 1 hour after you leave the site (without logging out), and after one hour of inactivity you are no longer signed in and displaying as online. If you click "Remember me" then it just saves a cookie that automatically logs you in when you access the site again, so don't select that box and it should be fine?

That's how I've always thought it worked. Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.
