Seconded - I love Tapatalk! I actually run the Tapatalk Users group on another forum (it has a groups system) I have this slightly dodgy forum app at the moment called Forums Pro which simply scrapes the contents of the site to browse EC, and it won't sign in, can't post and crashes every five minutes
Hi, We have been talking about adding some form of better mobile support for EC. vBulletin, the software that runs our community, has a beta version of a direct plugin that supports vB really well and has some advantages over tapatalk, but we will be looking at both. One of the issues is that EC is heavily modified for our security provisions and various other features, as well as user classes, and Tapatalk advises that they don't guarantee compatibility with modified vBulletin sites. There are also some issues with data security -- it appears as though some EC data would be stored, at least in part on Tapatalk's servers, which is potentially problematic. So it would be a pretty big undertaking. But... we have been talking off and on about some form of better mobile support, and I suspect that either the vB proprietary mobile application or Tapatalk is something that we will probably look more seriously into with the next round of upgrades to EC.
Also, I thought the vBulletin iPhone app only connected to the forum on vBulletin.com, making it something of a white elephant. COrrect me if I'm wrong, though.
No, there's an actual vBulletin plugin that they have developed and are testing and will be making available to all vB licensees. If/when we get it, it will run on the same server where our vB is installed, which provides for greater security and control.
It's on hold until we upgrade the forum as a whole to either vB4 or vB5. That should be no later than sometime this summer, possibly earlier.
So I'm curious if Tapatalk is still a planned feature for the forum. I did a search for Empty Closets on Tapatalk Pro earlier today and didn't find anything, which bums me out as I quite like to browse forums when I'm out and about.
