Hello all, Just to announce that TheEdend has changed roles slightly to Moderator from his previous Advisory role; but don't worry as he will still be available for giving advice as he always has been! He'll be performing the same tasks as before, just the blue title's better more fitting than the purple one. Congratulations for Gus for being an amazing Staff member and choosing the dark side.
Wow, congrats, Gus! Now we shall all tremble before your Blue Title of DOOOM! ...Exactly as much as we balk at Rosina's. What exactly ate the differences between mods, admins, and advisors?
Advisors and Mods have identical moderation permissions on the site, but their priorities are a tad different. Advisors mostly focus on the support forums and handle support and advice publicly and privately, whereas the Mods focus on the discussion-y forums and play 'bad cop' when members are naughty. Their differences are more role-based than anything, and even then an Advisor is able to handle a moderation matter and vice versa, so it basically just comes down to username colour and the area of the site that each group is interested in focusing on. As for Admins, we play a vital role in implementing and maintaining EC's authoritarian structure by acting as the all seeing eye! I jesttt. EC's admins just have the ability to access more sensitive information (PM's, anon logs etc), and can also edit more detailed parts of the site such as the resource pages and any part of a members account. Chip, Corny and I are also Technical Admins, so we have additional access to sections of EC's admin control panel to handle the more boring and complicated aspect of EC maintenance. That's basically the difference between the admins in a nutshell. Tis a shame the authoritarian part isn't true as it would be a lot more interesting to describe.
That's what they probably say they're aiming for, but there's a reason they're the North Korea of EC. All bark and no bite. :badgrin:
