I have been doing some work on the EC front page at http://emptyclosets.com/

I think it's a bit tidier and better structured now.

    Looking good, Paul

I think we should have different homepage themes depending on season! That'd be cool!

That wouldn't work though, 'cos it's winter here summer in Australia....

Anyway it's taking us long enough to make something of the homepage we do have. :frowning2:

I have decided that I don't like WordPress.

Next job is to get some of the sticky threads copied into the articles section.

If anyone's interested, the main changes are:

    1. The menu is tidier now. Previously the items were odd widths, now it's consistent. I removed the Blogs menu item that linked to an empty page.

    2. The site news has been moved to its own page, which leaves the front page for a fixed welcome message. The 3 most recent site news items are listed on the right of all pages under the latest forum posts.

    3. Some of the fonts have been made more consistent.

    4. I have got rid of the big white patch at the bottom of the pages with Firefox (at last).

    5. I added an "under construction" note on the articles page which should explain why most of the images aren't linked anywhere yet....

    TO DO:

    1. Tidy the presentation of the Code of Conduct (especially in IE).

    2. Add more articles

    3. Review the links on the Resources page

New visitors to the site will now see the front page with the fixed welcome message. So we really need to get the wording of that page right, as this is where people could turn away if it doesn't attract their interest. Right now it says:

I welcome everyone's comments on that, so we can get it as good as possible. It is probably the most important page on EC. Thanks!

I have just gone through the resources links and had to remove three that no longer exist or are no longer appropriate. So if anyone can suggest any useful links to add, please do so here. Thanks.

Well you could add Full Spectrum to the resources page, we have gay-themed articles *looks at Becky* as an addition to the current link.

By the way, I'll be happy to allow EC to take articles from Full Spectrum's library if that's okay with their authors. If you want anything from FS 1.0, please let me know.

Thanks Becky. Some of those sound very good. I'll go through them later (I've had enough today).

Me either (at FS we use it too), but well, it's quicker than actually designing from scratch. That's why we use it... we needed a site up and running quickly.
