Staff announcement: TheEdend and Black Cat stepping down

    Hi everyone,

    We've a sad announcement regarding a few of EC's staff: TheEdend and Black Cat have resigned from their positions as Admin and Moderator (respectively) so that they can focus on their academic work and other offline commitments. They've both been returned to being full members.

    We would like to thank both of them for their fantastic contributions to EC, and we really hope that they stick around and keep making the community awesome. I think I speak for all of us when I say it was a pleasure working with you two!

    Honestly, I hope they will eventually return to their positions. They have been very strong staff members, and I will continue to enjoy their perspectives.

    They can still offer their perspectives in public discussions as full members. :slight_smile:

    Eventually, I'm sure, though probably not immediately. The selection process for new staff takes a while, and we usually wait until things have settled down a bit after someone resigns before we even start thinking about who we could invite on board.

    (Let me stress that I used the word "invite" deliberately. For anyone considering volunteering themselves for a staff position: please don't.)

    If the staff feel there's a need to expand the team, we will. The EC staff is sort of dynamic in that regard. It doesn't seem to me like there's any particular quota for the quantity of staff members that we need to meet. It's more a matter of filling needs with people we feel can meaningfully contribute to the community. :slight_smile:

    You'll both be sorely missed around Mod Tower, but I do hope you guys stick around a bit. All the best!

    Eventually we'll add more staff, but there's no immediate rush to do so at the moment. It's better to take time and find the right people than to simply move through the process quickly. :slight_smile:

    I will def stick around and post here or there. This place is too awesome for me to just never come back :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    And thanks everyone. It was an awesome ride to be part of the Staff and I was lucky to have been able to meet so many of you in that process :slight_smile:

    Haven't been on here long, but I like reading your posts in the forums more often than not it opens my eyes to a different way of thinking and I'll miss that. Best of luck to y'all in your endeavors :slight_smile:
