Would there be a easier way of wall messaging please. I know everyone sometimes put their reply on their own wall. It`s confusing and sometimes annoying. Thanks.
I did that when I first joined. You just have to remember to click "view conversation" and then reply.
You would have to ask someone on the staff but I think that's just how it's structured. I mean if you're messaging back and forth frequently it's not hard to remember.
Nope. He's saying that I should be able to post on the wall of RedPowerRanger, but not Fiddledeedee (and conversely, RedPowerRanger should be able to post on Fiddledeedee's wall but not RedPowerRanger's wall). That means I'll never end up messaging myself by accident.
So is PM'ing not allowed here? I thought it was only allowed for full members. Seems slightly strange to not allow it at all.
The wall function of profile, as far as I'm aware, is a bolt-on piece of software that's pretty inflexible after demand for such a feature was made. I'm not sure if it would be possible to modify it so users can't post on their own walls. As long as you remember to click the "view conversation" link you can't go wrong. PMing function is available here, but we limit PMs between members to only Full Members so we can maintain our code of conduct and site security. Any member, regardless of membership, is able to PM the Staff.
It's a great idea, but Rosina is correct. There's no easy way to modify the wall posting functions. We have a pretty large "wish list" of features and functions we'd like to add, all of which will require custom coding, and I'll add this to the list. But I wouldn't expect to see any implementation of that request any time soon, as we're still way behind just with the forum upgrade.
Being able to post on your own wall might have advantages. It's a way of letting people know if you aren't around. Like: "Hi! I'm about to beam to the Home Planet! I'll be beaming back to earth in two weeks!"
There could be a big banner that appears in front of the screen whenever you are posting on your own wall, that would not let you post on your own wall until you clicked it. It would be the best thing, really, I think.
Again, not easy to do as wall posting is an integral part of the vBulletin code. I agree that it's an inconvenience (as is composing a PM and only after sending it finding out you can't, because either you or the person you're sending to isn't a full member) but those are current limitations of the software. We hope to get them fixed at some point.
