Yes, I have. The latest one I watched was called 'Tomboy' (LGBT related) and a while ago I've seen 'Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain' and 'Coco avant Chanel', I don't speak any French, though.

She was the reason I watched them!:icon_bigg I didn't like Coco but I absolutely loved Amelie! For me, it was the narration that made the movie so brilliant.

I've seen a few, although being French Canadian I guess I'm cheating a little. These are the only one I can remember the title however.

I've also seen Tomboy (it's the only French movie I've ever seen actually) and would recommend it!

French comedies are usually the only movies that reaches Québec. I actually don't watch comedies all that much though, but I did enjoy those 3 movies (particularly RRRrrrr!). Brice de Nice was quite popular however, more so than RRRrrrr! "J't'ai cassé" was all the rage.

Not that many. I saw "Le Fil," but it took place in Tunisia. I have seen more from Spain and Italy. It's refreshing to see a foreign film every now and then. They are crafted differently. I don't know how to explain it.

I like French movies they often have an artistic quality most Hollywood productions lack.
Unfortunately I don't speak French (I'm trying to learn it) so I can only watch dubbed or subtitled ones. I would prefer Subtitles but unfortunately in German TV you only see dubbed movies because you can't expect audiences to read subtitles :frowning2:

    Some French films I liked:
Juste un question d'amour / Just a question of love (gay themed)
I killed my mother (also gay but I think its from Quebec not France)
    Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis
    Amelie (of course)
some (a lot) films with Luis de Funes (he's well known and liked in Germany)
    Taxi (and sequels)
the Crimson Rivers (and others with Jean Reno)
    ...

I also like Arte I think they broadcast a lot of good movies

I saw La Cage Aux Folles with subtitles. It was the basis for The Bird Cage. In some ways the French film was funnier. The political sub-plot worked better in the French film.

The closest for me was Les Miserables.

    (My first post here!)

There are some brilliant French films! Some good examples dealing with LGBT themes; -

    • Avril
    • Juste Une Qustion D'Amour (as above )
    • A Cause D'Un Garcon
    • C.R.A.Z.Y (it's Quebecoise, but I'm adding it because it's amazing)

You can usually find these movies around on youtube, so check them out some time.

Obviously love Amelie (and Jeunet films in general). Some more faves are The Beat My Heart Skipped, La Haine, A Prophet, The Illusionist, and Chansons D'Amour.
