    Hi there!

As you may have gathered from previous posts I'm a HUGE musical fan. I'm looking to extend my knowledge of musicals though. Can you please give me the names of some musicals you suggest I look into?

    (I'd prefer stage musicals)

    Thanks everyone.

    Les Misérables
    Phantom of the Opera
    Oliver!

I know, incredibly standard. They're really really good, though.

I haven't seen it but Avenue Q looks pretty good.

I *adore* musicals. Unfortunatley, I haven't seen many. I suggest Moulin Rouge if you haven't seen it. It's amazing. If you have, hey, it can never hurt to hear that gorgeous scotsman belting out love songs, can it?

As Joey listed, the five musicals are incredibly good (I've only seen Wicked, but I've heard the soundtrack of all the musicals).

    As for more musicals:
    - Hairspray (I thought the movie did a better job than broadway :astonished:)
    - Spring Awakening (It's a sexual musical, and it has LGBT content - one of the guys is gay)
    - Rent (the broadway shows ENDS somewhere in June/July. Don't fret, the movie is surprisingly good too)

Across the Universe is extremely incredible. Words cannot describe my pleasure of having seen it (con: it's not a staged musical. pro: you get to look at Jim Sturgess haha)

Hehe I've been obsessed with Sweeney and Jekyll & Hyde since I was about ten years old. I'm in love with Rent, Chicago, Phantom, Hairspray, Hair and Spring Awakening. And Moulin Rouge. I've ALWAYS wanted to see Cabaret but heard it wasn't overly good? I Love Hey big spender though. Fantastic song.

just a question out of curiosity. why are you wanting to find out about musicals? is it just to expand your knowledge or are you looking into performing them?

Um it is mainly for knowledge.

I would LOVE to perform in musicals but my singing ability is lacking haha. I'm more of an actor.

Thanks guys this is so much help!

One of the reasons I want to research musicals is because my friend and I are writing a musical at the moment. We've come up with a couple of songs but it's always good to get inspiration.

Haha thanks lovely. I'll keep that in mind.

Just wrote a song today and it goes:

    "Fool
    You're a fool
A fool I fear I'm falling for" haha.

Pity you can't hear the tune.

  20. Well, most of these have already been said but here are some of my favourites (because I, too, am a huge musical fan):

    -Wicked
-Cats (I have four different soundtracks on my iPod- Broadway, London, Australia, and Madrid)
    -A Chorus Line
    -Seussical the Musical
    -Cinderella (Rodgers and Hammerstein)
    -The Lion King
    -Godspell
    -Rent
    -Avenue Q
    -The King and I
    -Phantom of the Opera
    -Hairspray

I saw Wicked (the national tour) last night. It was AMAZING. ~megan~
