    Okies, so...

I'm going to be doing a lot of mountain climbing this summer, and I have a four day Duke of Edinburgh expedition to Mauritius in late September, so I'm going to start getting everything ready now so I don't have to waste time later.

Basically, on my bronze expedition I listened to the entirety of Pink Floyd's The Wall, The Who's Tommy, and Frank Zappa's Joe's Garage. Could you darling ECers recommend artists and/or particular albums for me to get to last me through all this walking, because as weird as that may seem, I honestly do not enjoy it unless I have music.

I'm open to any genre, except for hip hop, rap, and R&B. Thankees ^___^

    Mariah Carey - E=MC2
    Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Björk - Royal Opera House 2001
    Bob Marley - Legend
    Daft Punk - Alive 2007
Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced?
Kate Nash - Made Of Bricks
    M.I.A - Kala or Arular
Mika - Life in Cartoon Motion
    Pink - Missundaztood
    Radiohead - In Rainbows
Steve Vai - Passion and Warfare

I guess that the more mainstream-ish stuff I listen to, I listen to a lot of different music that most of my friends don't like :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Led Zeppelin - The album doesn't really have a name. It's their 4th album with some old guy hunched over with a bundle of sticks on his back. There are also some runes on the spine that look like [IMG]

Eric Clapton - Unplugged (great if you like acoustic guitar music)
Boston's self-titled first album has a number of classic rock hits.
Heart - Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen are good albums or just pick up a Heart Greatest Hits CD.
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood (if you like Blues)

This stuff won't be entirely the stuff you're sorta after, but it's an intriguing set of tracks to listen to. This is mostly just what I listen to at the moment.

Erik Mongrain. He makes really beautiful acoustic music.
    Delays - Valentine
Biffy Clyro - Saturday Superhouse and Living is a Problem
    Clutch - Burning Beard
    Scissorfight - The Dredge
    Exit Ten - Resume Ignore
Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats and Crosses (separate songs)
    Sigur Rós - Takk...
Spitalfield - Stop doing bad things
The Police - Message in a Bottle
    Textures - Drawing Circles

Ok you're probably going to tell me I'm obsessed, but seriously this thread cannot go without a Celine Dion mention.

So she might not be your absolute fave singer in the world, but *actually* some of her stuff can be quite good for walking with.

I think it depends what mood you're in. If you want something really 'rock', listen to her 'Taking Chances' album, especially the songs 'Can't fight the feeling', 'I drove all night' and 'That's just the woman in me'. Also under all that kind of upbeat stuff, 'Fever', 'Unison' and 'Misled'.

If you want something more relaxing, some of her good songs are 'Let's talk about love', 'A Song for You', 'The Colour of my Love' and anything from her Miracle album.

If you want happy music - 'That's the way it is', 'Taking Chances', 'A New Day Has Come', 'I'm alive' and 'Love can move mountains' are some good ones, they're also quite upbeat.

And now in the name of sappy romance: 'Because you loved me', 'To Love You More', 'If You Asked Me To', 'Immortality', 'I Surrender', and 'I want you to need me'.

Anyway I'm going to shut up now cos you're probably going to ignore this post completely...LOL

Which reminds me, I just remembered that I was going to say 'Heatqueen is absolutely and definitely FORBIDDEN from this thread XD'

You know as well as I do that we've never *ever* agreed on music =P

I might, just MIGHT, pay attention to the happy and fast upbeat stuff...if I feel like it...

Haha, I love how you have all the songs in your head by mood :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I should introduce you to one of my (female) friends, she's a complete addict as well.

As for my recommendations... it's not at all like the stuff you mentionned, but you could check out Goldfrapp. Her last album is really atmospheric, which can be cool for walking, and her earlier stuff is more upbeat, which can be cool as well. And Imogen Heap could be cool as well.
