Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson. Source: Movie Pictures | Movie Posters - Yahoo! Movies This is underwhelming TBH. Was hoping for Matt Bomer and Emma Watson. Charlie Hunnam is hot, but doesn't have the right look for the part, and this Dakota person looks too old to be playing her character. Meh.
WHAT??! no Emma Watson? I am dissapoint! Dakota Johnson is actually very beautiful I feel like the 50 shades of Grey hype has died down, but maybe I'm wrong. Hey, maybe even the movies won't be so terrible...
The angelic virgin's gay BFF? ---------- Post added 2nd Sep 2013 at 10:15 PM ---------- If there's one thing certain about this movie, it's that it will suck big time.
wont it technically be just a porn movie though?.... idk... ive never read the books all i know is that they are rather well... adult.. i never got the hype and still dont :s
Personally, I found the book too pornographic, and straight sex doesn't interest me in the least. I hate the fact that they denied Matt Bomer the role of Christian just because he is gay in real life. That's just homophobic and unfair.
I'm happy that it's not Jennifer Lawrence, I don't think I could look at her the same way if she took it, I remember she was rumored to play the part.
If J-Law was playing the part I would be super pissed. I probably couldn't look at her the same way either, although I guess it's her career to live. ~~~ Anyways I hope I'm not the only person who didn't know there was going to be a 50 Shades movie...
Yes, he indeed is. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out. Apparently, the casting team said he acts too gay in White Collar, so they denied him the role. Such BS
This is the best thing I've seen all day. But honestly, I really have no idea how they're making this into a big-screen film. Like, considering the themes and sex acts prevalent throughout the ENTIRE FREAKING NOVEL, I'd still think it'd get an NC-17/X rating (which is basically the slaughterhouse for feature films) or something. I think I got halfway through this book before just "noping" everywhere. The writers' explanation of genetalia and some of the acts, imo, was laughably silly. Maybe it's just me. Although I did find the 'Inner Goddess' thing kind of funny. Reminds me of "Inner Sakura" from Naruto, albeit more sexualized.
I am actually quite looking forward to see how this movie will turn out. The books are porn. However, in the movie world, any rating NC-17 or above is gonna kill a movie at the box office. Typically, they tone down violent and sexual content, in order to get a PG-13 rating (at least), so people will take their whole family (husband, wife, kids, grandparents etc.) to see it. But as I said, 50 Shades is porn. The very premise is a young virgin who falls in love with an older, BDSM-obsessed millionaire. So what are they gonna do? Make a porn flick without the sex? Because we all know that if you take the sex out of a porno, all you have left is cheesy music, bad acting, and a laughable story. What's more, a big part of the success of the books was due to the existence of the e-book format. Most people who bought 50 Shades (middle-aged housewives), bought it for their e-readers, because this is the kinda book you'd be embarrassed if people saw you reading it. It will be interesting to see if all the women who read the book will line up in broad daylight at he cinema to watch the movie adaptation. ---------- Post added 3rd Sep 2013 at 03:15 PM ---------- In a way, I'm glad he didn't get the part. There's quite a big chance that this movie will flop big time, and not just critically (where it's almost a guarantee it will), but also at the box office. Unlike the other book phenomena adapted to the big screen (Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games), which were aimed at young adults and had content that would satisfy ratings Nazis, 50 Shades is a pornographic novel. It's all about the sex. If they take that out, you pretty much lose the entire point of the story. One the one hand, if they keep the sex as is (and likely get an X rating), will enough people show up at the cinema to see it? And on the other hand, if they tone down on the sex, will the book's fans have any reason to see the movie? It would've been terrible if Bomer got the part, the movie flopped for whatever reason mentioned above, and they ended up using him as a scapegoat and being all "see what happens when we hire a gay actor?" ---------- Post added 3rd Sep 2013 at 03:16 PM ---------- Jennifer Lawrence is too smart to get attached to such a potential train wreck. (Plus, she's already the face of a major franchise, so I don't think she'd even be legally able to.)
