I am actually liking Miley's new style. Her voice has improved like 10 fold. I am starting to enjoy her music, ohh, awkward...

I don't get what's wrong with the new her? Because most people don't deem her style socially acceptable, who cares. They never did Marilyn Manson either.
Her excessive drug use is nothing to look up to, but many artists have the same problem.

The only issue I have is when she literally tries to act like a stereotypical ghetto black girl.

Not a really big fan of the song, to be honest.

The backlash the video is getting is ridiculous though. If it were Lady Gaga doing what she is doing, everyone would be praising her for taking a risk.

People are just so stuck on Miley being Hannah Montana, they act like she forever has to be 13. Though, she really needs to do something about her obsession with her tongue.

Miley is overrated. That is all.

Real music died years ago, now all you get is teens cupping their cocks and balls and holding a mike in the other and jerking around or pretending to get involved in ''doggy-style'' sex. Don't even get me started on the singing.

I enjoyed the song... somewhat. It's still a little too petulant and toolish for my taste, but she does have a pretty voice. Miley doesn't have to be a children's idol anymore, but she could at least make her music videos have something to do with the song, instead of making them borderline porn. The whole video was pretty boring, what with the repetitive and metaphor-filled wrecking-ball swinging and sledgehammer licking.

Song's ok. Video kinda ruins it. I'm not saying this because I disapprove of Miley's new attitude, I never watched Hannah Montana or really payed attention to her, it's just that she's trying to lip sync on sentimental music/lyrics and she's ruining it by acting so whore-ish. Can you imagine Amy Lee of Evanescence doing such stuff on My Immortal's videoclip?

Here are the things I do not get.
She makes music for 12-20 year olds, because that is the age of people who know her.
Why make sluch slutty sex referenced-naked videos?
    She looked sooooooooooooooooo pretty before...
    Why go so slutty-rubbish style?

Her music is somewhat good. But she gets all attention because of videos.

I've always been uncomfortable with people who feel they have to go to some extreme to somehow prove they've changed/grown up etc.

I don't have a problem with it and I do actually think she's ok as a person. It just feels like she's doing it to prove something, rather than being a true creative expression.

I think the song and lyrics are good, but the video was just horrible.

Oh no! Bad images, good analogy. She's also a fantastic singer, but at least her music videos capture the feeling of the song.

I think what she's going through is typical adolescence agnst. We've all been there, the difference is that she's famous.

I personally liked the song; especially the beginning of the music video; the song would kinda do a bit better of just doing a close-up of her face and slowly pan out..

The video to me looked like symbolism... Let me break it down a bit..
The song was basically about a relationship of her loving someone 'hardcore' and basically came in like a wrecking ball. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: but in the end it was her who was wrecked; not him. (by wrecked i mean all of her walls are broken and she was left out absolutely vulnerable and 'nude'))

I thought the nudity was about her being completely stripped down to her core; not looking fancy and such; just being her absolute self. it was supposed to display how she was exposed so much and left vulnerable in the relationship. (Odd tan lines; but its fine. 'Nobody's perfect')

I would say that the when she licked the hammer; it was her liking the pain the relationship caused her. she felt masochistic.

Just my 2 cents. Then again Miley could also just be a dick-raging person who wants the D really badly; I like my symbolism idea a lot more though.

I feel pretty much the same way that it went out in about 1976 as disco came in and Karen Carpenter died. I do relate to this song though as I know I will not survive my current relationship's demise if it ever happens. June

The song was okay, but the video wasn't really my cup of tea. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I love how people still think she makes all these decisions. Miley Cyrus is a packaged product, carefully designed by people within the pop music industry to make as much money as possible. Her image has been manufactured, like a doll. Stylists, photographers, and various media personnel have either designed or maintained most of her look. What she wears, how her hair looks, her makeup, even how she sticks her tongue out at every moment possible has been carefully orchestrated by others to make her into a product capable of mass consumption by society - in particular the youth who are easily manipulated due to their own naivety and insecurities. Her "control" over her own career is limited and will always be limited by the record label she works for - unless she goes indie this will not change.

If you examine the authors of the song, you will note that she did not produce it. You will also note she did not write any of the lyrics. So all she actually did was sing - and even this has been heavily auto-tuned and modified in a studio to sound better than it actually is (her VMA performance proves this as her singing was quite mediocre). She of course did not direct or produce any part of the video, either.

So if I am to critique Miley Cyrus' contribution, I can't. Because what I hear has undergone so much adjustment before I have even heard it that I do not have an accurate image of her true singing. I won't bother critiquing the production quality or lyrics because she had no hand in either.

And even putting all this aside - it's a very clumsy song, clearly trying to overcompensate for its lack of any originality with sex appeal.
