Your favorite genre of music and bands you like to listen to within that genre.

List as many as you want.

I used to be able to say black metal without any hesitation, but as of late, my musical tastes have expanded a lot, and the time I spend listening to different genres has leveled out even more, so it's really hard to say.

I have way more songs under the Metal genre heading than any other genre heading in iTunes, so let's go with that. As far as my favorite metal bands, there's...
-Agalloch (my favorite band in general)
    -Kamelot
    -Wolves in the Throne Room
    -Nightwish
    -Otep
    -Within Temptation

I can relate. I've been experimenting with some electronic and classical music, but for the most part I still listen to metal. I don't think that will ever change.

Agalloch and Wolves In The Throne Room are by far my favorite black metal bands.
    Love your selections.

Pop, Rock/Metal, Dance/Techno, Industrial, Alternative, Alt-Rock, Country, most anything from the 80's, ...

Can't stand elevator music(also known as Classical) or Jazz or Opera, or really slow/mellow stuff. (also no interest in anything so old it isn't even in stereo)

Classical all the way! Well, that is a misnomer since it basically represents centuries of very different musical styles. Sometimes I feel sad that it is not very popular, but I realize that it really is art music just like old paintings/sculptures: things that are difficult to appreciate but continue to find listeners/performers generation after generation. I also like "world music", especially Indian music due to my ancestry (again the classical versions, but I also like film songs) and Celtic music. I strongly prefer instrumental vs vocal music.

Ooh, forgot about this. It's fairly rare for me to hear it at least, but it is beautiful.

Usually folk-music (predominantly Celtic): Gaelic Storm, Anuna, Altan, Enter the Haggis, Clannad, Great Big Sea, Natalie McMaster. But I'm also a sucker for a lot of pop music and rock. Pretty much anything on KBPI and KTCL (for those of you who know those stations lol)

I cant really pick one genre. But most of the time I love rock. I love Nirvana, Joan Jett, Queen, Kiss, Skid Row.. Actually I would say I adore old but gold music from 90's or earlier

Extreme metal probably tops the list, with death, thrash, doom, and their various sub-genres constantly competing for supremacy. Lately, I've been trying my hand at dark ambient, martial industrial, and neoclassical, for a change of pace, much to my liking.

Now and then, I'll listen to something completely random, like acid jazz, deep house, or psy trance, and, of course, there are my all-time favorite classic rock, blues, and country favorites.
