Just a support thread for all who will be watching the Doctor Who fiftieth-anniversary special this weekend! (Or seeing it theaters on Monday.) (I'm doing both.)
I'm seeing it in 3D at my local cinema - can't wait! Just wish I had a teleporter so I could go and see it with my brother though!
I've been shaking over this for like a week now. We're so close. I'm sure this is the fall of 11, and I don't know if I can take it. And then Sherlock the day after.... I'm going to be an emotional wreck by Monday.
I'm going to miss it when it's on TV and the tickets are sold out, so I'll have to wait until it's on the internet or On Demand. :icon_sad: I'm more excited for the return of the 10th doctor and Rose than everything else. I just hope Rose is actually Rose, not a Zygon. She looks and sounds different and her eyes look like Bad Wolf again, so I don't think it's going to be the normal Rose. I'm also thinking it could be the half human Doctor from Journey's End. Rose is in it, so obviously she got out of the alternate universe somehow (again!), and she wouldn't leave the Doctor. If only Jack Harkness was in it, then it would be perfect! Peter Capaldi isn't on the list for Day of the Doctor and Matt Smith is supposed to be in the Christmas special. Don't worry, he still has a month. Personally, I'm excited for the new Doctor. Older Doctor = less romance = more story. And hopefully Moffat is done with the "mysterious woman" stories, now that we know who River and Clara are.
I will be. Cant wait. BBC America has a documentary on tonight as well. I am really torn about Matt Smith leaving and William Hurt and Peter Capaldi coming in. Matt is my favorite version of the Doctor and I was so hoping he would be around longer. I feel in a lot of ways the should end the show now. I feel making the Doctor older and darker will hurt the show and make it less fun
Well, Doctor Who used to be pretty dark and scary, so they're just getting the show back to it's roots, more or less. Not to mention, it's pretty intense as is, time travel, hostile things like Daleks, Cybermen, and Weeping Angels. And we did see The Doctor get killed while trying to regenerate.
I started watching it with the 9th Doctor. I have tried going back and watching some of the older shows and they don't hold my attention as well (damn ADHD). I see what you are saying I guess I am more sad because no matter how dark it was the 11th always put random silliness and jokes in ---------- Post added 22nd Nov 2013 at 01:22 PM ---------- My wife just told me Google has a game up on their home page for the 50th.Blocks it here at work ---------- Post added 22nd Nov 2013 at 01:26 PM ---------- I guess its on the U.K. google
